Anvashtaka Shraddha is a sacred ritual performed on the Ashtami (eighth day) of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik or Margashirsha. It is dedicated to honoring and appeasing the ancestors (Pitrs). The puja involves bathing, wearing clean clothes, and preparing offerings like pind daan (rice balls), sesame seeds, and water. Mantras and prayers are recited to invite the departed souls and offer them peace. A Brahmin is often fed and given dakshina. This ritual expresses gratitude and ensures the well-being of ancestors in the afterlife, thereby bringing blessings and prosperity to the family.
